The Holy Monastery of Chrysopodaritissa is a male-monastery which was built at the end of the 12th century on cave of Erymanthos and is surrounded by age-old trees and gardens. It has been declared a monument by the Ministry of Culture and women are not allowed there with the sole exception of the day of its religious festival.

This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. It is accessible all year round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.

It is surrounded by centuries-old trees and gardens. It has been declared a monument by the Ministry of Culture. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary who has a golden, i.e. miraculous foot and rushes to help when she is invoked. According to another version, the name is due to the healing, by the Virgin Mary, of a believer's foot.

Historical data

It was built at the end of the 12th century and contains manuscripts from 1309, as well as documents from 1635 from the Patriarchate of Konstantinople to the Monastery. It was destroyed in 1770 in Orlovika and rebuilt in 1812 by the monk Anania to be destroyed again in 1825 by Ibrahim. After the end of the revolution it was built again. The Monastery was often visited by Germanos, the Metropolitan of Old Patras and during the Uprising it was turned into a supply center for the Achaean camp.

Before its foundation there were hermitages in the area and in fact the first temple functioned inside a cave with stalagmites.
