Coming to Aetoliko, the visitor has the opportunity to visit the oldest church of the island, the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin, which is located in the center of the city. In the city center took place:

1. the first national assemblies of the representatives of Roumeli and

2. The trial of G. Karaiskakis took place on April 1,1824.

In the church are kept Holy Relics, such as the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, work of the Evangelist Luke, the Epitaph, which is the work of the 15th century AD. and the wood-carved Temple of the Virgin.
