The Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Spyridon is the last church of Messolonghi that was built on the site of an older church. It was built in the same style as the older church, with the difference that the new one does not have a dome and is larger in size. This is a church of special value, as the old church was the one in which the "free besieged" became twinned and partook of the Achrant Mysteries on the historic day of the Exodus.
