The old Sanatorium dominates the foothills of Mount Panahaikos, just outside the city, near the Settlement of Zastova. It is an unfinished, multi-storey building, built on a green slope among trees, with a fantastic view of Patras and the surrounding mountains. It was originally built in March 1937, with the purpose of housing and treating people suffering from tuberculosis. Unfortunately, it never came into operation as work on its construction was halted in 1940 due to World War II. The point is mountainous, accessible all year round, while there is no public transport or ticket.
