Makrinou is a semi-mountainous settlement in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania and is the seat of the homonymous community that belongs to the municipal unit of Makrynia of the Municipality of Agrinio. It is built on the south side of Lake Trichonis and on the northwestern slopes of Mount Arakynthos. It is located 36 kilometers southeast of Agrinio and was formerly called Makrinou.
