The Holy Temple dedicated to Agios Athanasios dominates the central square of the village of Makrinou. It is a beautiful, picturesque church, which is built of stone and has a two-storey bell tower, which rises on the left side of the main entrance. It has a small, paved courtyard, which offers a wonderful view of Lake Trichonida, while in the center stands the marble Hero and right next door is the village cemetery.
