Dolmas is a muddy islet, uninhabited, at the end of the Messolonghi lagoon and at the beginning of the Aetolian lagoon. It played an important role in the siege of 1826 where it was fortified and was part of the city's defense. Today, on the islet is located a small church dedicated to the Virgin Mary and a monument to the fallen of 1826.
