The Holy Monastery of Katerinos is located on the south side of Lake Trichonida, three kilometers outside the village of Gavalos Makrynia in the Municipality of Agrinio. It is a beautiful nunnery, on the northern slope of Mount Arakynthos, with two-storey cells and a verdant enclosure. In the middle of the west side dominates a centuries-old plane tree and two springs with crystal clear running water. In the center of the Monastery stands the imposing katholikon, in which the icon of the Virgin of Katerinos is hosted, with the nickname the Pantanassa. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport.
