Thyrreio is a village located in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, near the site of the ancient city of the same name. It is built on the slopes of the Akarnanian mountains at an altitude of 500 meters, belongs administratively to the Municipality of Aktio-Vonitsa and its old name was Agios Vassilios. It has an archeological museum created in 1961 and includes a number of finds that highlight the history of the area. According to the 2011 census, the population is 859 inhabitants.
