The Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a chapel of the parish of Agios Nikolaos. There is not enough historical evidence for the temple and, according to tradition, it was built by a woman because of a vow to the Virgin Mary. The oldest written reference to the church dates back to 1848 and, during the Turkish occupation, there was a smaller church on the same site which was demolished in 1982 to build the new church of Byzantine style. During the construction of the new church, various findings dating back to the early Christian to Hellenistic eras were revealed. This point of interest is Plain and Urban. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
