Holy Monastery of Panagia Ampelakiotissa

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Ampelakiotissa is just one kilometer from the homonymous mountain village of Nafpaktia. This is a historic monastery, which was founded in 1,456 AD. and accommodates only male monks. It is known as the Ark of Nafpaktia, because it keeps invaluable relics, such as the icon of the Virgin Mary, the holy relic of Agios Polykarpos and the remarkable wood-carved iconostasis located inside the monastery. It has a spacious courtyard consisting of monks' cells and surrounded by many trees. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
