The Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos Nikavas is located in Goumero, on the Prefecture of Ileia. It is a Byzantine Monastery, which was built around 1200 AD, on the foundations of an ancient Temple. Its construction was carried out by the Byzantine Emperor Palaiologos, in memory of his wife, who died in the area when the emperor had visited Goumeros. He then donated the Monastery to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, as a result of which it is still a Metochi of the Holy Sepulcher. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
