Village

Alfeiousa

Alfeiousa is a village and seat of the homonymous local community of the Prefecture of Ileia. It is located on the south bank of the river Alfeios, at an altitude of 31 meters, while it is 8 kilometers west of Ancient Olympia and about 9 kilometers southeast of Pyrgos. Its original name was Volanza until 1927, when it was renamed Alfeousa, due to the river of the same name. According to the 2011 census, the population amounts to 1037 permanent residents, who are mainly engaged in the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, olives and raisins. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport.
