Archaeological site of Epitalio

The archeological site of Epitalio is located northwest of the current homonymous community, at the southern mouth of the Alfeios River and is 6 km from Pyrgos. The ruins of the ancient city testify that its heyday began in the 4th century BC. and ended in the 4th century AD, namely from the end of the Classics to the Late Roman years. Excavations in 1967 brought to light a Roman bath, a ceramic kiln, a large public building of unknown use, workshops and the foundations of many houses. Also, important movable findings were found, which today are in the museum of ancient Olympia, such as clay pots and figurines, bronze and silver coins, lamps of classical, Hellenistic and Roman times, as well as various small iron objects. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Visitable hours: Free access. Source of photographic material: Odysseus portal, copyright belongs to YPOA.
