The Castle of Empesos is located south of the homonymous settlement in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania. It is built on the top of a green conical hill, at an altitude of 600 meters and in the past held an important strategic position, which allowed the control of the narrow passage between the mountain peaks of Kalana and Alinda. Today, the ruins of parts of the defensive fortifications of the castle are preserved, while traces of various buildings have been found around them, which indicate the existence of a settlement. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport.
