The Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin, known as Panagia Smerniotissa, is located in the settlement of Smerna. The impressive temple is built inside a cave, on the steep cliffs of Mount Lapitha, and the view from the spot is riveting. According to tradition, the icon of the Virgin Mary was found inside the cave by a shepherd. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round.
