Raisin Festival

The Raisin Festival was a three-day agricultural-cultural event of pan-Hellenic scope, which took place from 1978-2002, the first ten days of August, in Krestena, Ileia. It was organized by the Association of Progressive Krestena and was dedicated to the farmer and the black Corinthian raisin, which was one of the main products of the region. Each year it gathered about 20,000 people and included exhibitions, lectures, traditional dances by local dance groups, concerts by the best composers and singers, as well as a folk festival. At the entrance the visitors were offered grapes, raisins and raisin bread, while inside the feast there were food and beverage stalls, with the famous Kresteneiko Gulbasi holding a special place. This point of interest is Flat and Urban. Suitable season to visit: Summer. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Source of photographic material: Personal archive of Mr. Andronikos Antoniou.
