The Ancient Ilis Festival started in 1991 and until today is one of the most important cultural institutions in Greece. It is characterized by its uninterrupted presence in the cultural events of the place, with the organization of important performances from the field of Ancient Greek Drama. It is a meeting point of internationally recognized directors and actors, who every summer present their creations at the Ancient Theater of Ancient Ilis, but also at the newly built theater of smaller capacity, located next to it. Every year, thousands of visitors arrive in the area of Ancient Ilis to experience and enjoy the events of the festival. This point of interest is Flat and Rural.
