Dafniotissa

The village of Dafniotissa in the prefecture of Ileia is located southwest of the artificial lake Pineios at an altitude of 155 meters. It is 16 km from Amaliada and 21 from Pyrgos. It consists of 281 inhabitants, according to the latest census, who are engaged in the cultivation of vegetables, cereals, olives, raisins and the breeding of pigs, sheep and poultry. The settlement, during the Turkish occupation, was called Muzika and belonged to the kaza of Gastouni. In the 19th century the settlements Dafniotissa and Paleochori were united and moved to the current location. The Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, located at Panagitsa is of Byzantine era and has been declared an ancient monument. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural.
