The Garden of Heroes is located on the north side of Messolonghi with an area of ​​14 acres, where the fighters of the guard of the Holy City fought and buried. It is surrounded by a stone wall, which is a reconstruction of the old wall which in the heroic Exodus was almost completely destroyed. The reconstruction order was given by Othonas in 1838 and the first tree planting took place in 1858 with trees that was sent by Queen Amalia. Inside the Garden there are 71 monuments of Greeks and Philhellenes as well as many crosses from fighters of Messolonghi who fell at the heroic Exodus.
