The Holy Church of Panagia Katholiki is located in Gastouni, Ileia. It was built in the 13th century AD. during the Frankish period and specifically in 1278/9, according to an inscription found on the arch of the sanctuary. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and was formerly the central church of the city, which explains its name. Even today excavations are made inside the Temple, which reveal older and older frescoes behind newer ones. This is one of the oldest monuments in the prefecture of Ileia.
