Franklin's dapia is located in the western part of the wall of Messolonghi and is the only one that survives to this day. It is also known as Dapia Terribile (Terrible), due to its size and the heroic struggles that took place in front of it during the siege of the Holy City. According to tradition, Dionysios Solomos wrote the National Anthem inspired by the sound of the cannon.
